“Don't use this company they are a rip off”

written by Dakilroe on 10/07/2014

I took out insurance last year in nov on the website and paid deposit using my visa debit card. The monthly payments also came out of debit card. In April I lost my debit card and hence got a replacement card . Unfortunately I forgot the insurance payment was associated to the debit card hence lloyds had the wrong details and payments for may and June never worked. On the website it requested details of my phone and e-mail.

Although lloyds sent a letter to my parents house it used only my initial and last name, the same as my farthers hence I never got the mail. Lloyds never contacted me by phone or email. I never knew there was a problem until my dads accountant reposted a letter to me " stating the enclosed letter must be for me not dad"

As the insurance by then had been cancelled I had to find alternative insurance and chose ensure who is more suited to modern communication and advise against use of debit cards for monthly payments as these details change with issue of new cards. It also contacts me by txt and e-mail ensuring all channels of communication is covered. Much better than snail mail!

Whilst I accept I made a mistake in using the debit card I feel lloyds failed to contact me in other than snail mail, not using my full name (they cannot explain why note). If a simple call or mail had been sent I would have seen the issue immediately and resolved it!

As you would guess lloyds is asking for rest of insurance and guess what is now calling me to ask for the money? Why didn't it do that when there was an issue? I feel the whole episode for me shows that lloyds is not geared up for modern communication methods with its customers and I admit I should have thought about this when selecting them. My advice is to use a modern insurance company ths has multiple channels of contact , not just paper nd don't use a debit card unless you write it down and have the hassle of writing to each supplier if the card is replaced or lost - which could be time consuming! Finally don't expect lloyds to go out of its way to call you if there is a problem? That is unless they want money from you then they will call all the time! Use ensure! It's much better!
