“Oh no, not another American sanitised war movie where...”

Good Points
Saving Private Ryan has the most realistic war sequences ever seen on film.

General Comments
Oh no, not another American sanitised war movie where the good guy always wins - WRONG!

From the harrowing opening scenes on D-Day as the American troops were massacred before they even got off their landing craft . . . to the final conflict in the French town, you couldn't help but feel as though you were experiencing their fear and pain.

Prisoners weren't always taken; wounds weren't always nice and clean - you suspect that this film came close to how it really was. And yet the film didn't set out to shock, but had shocking parts to it - the absolute knowledge in the hand-to-hand fighting that one of the Americans was slowly being killed.

In all of this, however, there was a story of good - saving one man's life after all his brothers had been killed in action . . . step up Tom Hanks . . . brilliant actor.

A must see film!
