“Turkish Carriers Put TC to Shame for Service, Comfort...”

written by Rachel1951 on 26/06/2014

I booked a return flight to Dalaman with flythomascook.com earlier this year. The price was good and I was happy to fly from Edinburgh and return to Glasgow. I booked my usual 'bundle' which is meals, 20K hold luggage and seat reservation for £31 for the return flight. Excellent (hmmm). I was advised that the outbound flight was being contracted to Pegasus. No problem there because I have used them in the past and they are fantastic. However despite the actual aircraft being very comfortable and brand new, complete with ambient lighting etc., I did not have my chosen seat, nor did I have my meal. The steward told me that they had flown from Gatwick to Edinburgh and only had "one sandwich" for the whole flight. After insisting that I had paid for food, I was offered a meal (fillet steak or chicken escalopes), for which I had to pay. The food is excellent but I had already paid for it so I was hacked off. On the inbound flight which was operated by Thomas Cook, I did have my chosen seat and I did have a 'so called' meal. Chicken or Beef curry, served by very miserable and abrupt staff at 1.00am in the morning, hardly suitable food for that time of day! The aircraft was a 737 200, an old crock. Pegasus Airlines are quite clearly streets ahead of Thomas Cook in EVERY way, from service, to menu, to comfort etc. etc. Turkish Airlines are also streets ahead of TC. I complained to TC and was told that their outbound flight was operated by Pegasus so the bundle wasn't applied to that leg of my journey. No sorry or anything. Surely if you contract someone to do something for you then they conform to your wishes? Am I wrong? I have since e-mailed TC twice without being acknowledged and I held on the line for 20 minutes nfor someone in customer services to answer. Obviously they are having major problems and are inundated with complaints. TC will be my last choice in the future.
