I paid a lot of money for Neville Johnson to make and instal a TV cabinet. After being assured of a bespoke and personalised service that would give me everything I wanted I paid a lot of money only to be left utterly frustrated and disappointed. The first surveyor to visit told me that the cabinet could not fit where I wanted it and it would have to be redesigned and when I queried the 'bespoke' assurance the salesman had given me I was told that the parts were bought in and I had to have whatever measurements were available. In consequence the salesman had to return and re-work the whole design.
When the installation began some two months later I was left with a unit that had a lengthy snagging list and it took another three appointments and several months for the work to be started, let alone finished. The first sprayer refused to begin to spray paint the wood because he said if he did my walls, carpets and curtains would be covered in paint as well and so the area manager had to attend to assess the situation. The next workman failed to arrive at all and the next one cancelled on the morning because of illness (which of course I accepted). It took another two visits for the work to be completed and so in all the process nearly six months.
Thankfully I had in sited on a retention, which Neville Johnson waived, as well they might. On reflection I should have kept back more. It was only the threat of court action that achieved a response.
