“This is one of my all-time favourite movies. Based on...”

This is one of my all-time favourite movies. Based on a James Elroy book, screen played excellently with some impressive acting and filmwork! Here's a plot summary. Based in Los Angeles we have a pastiche of mafia, violence, police corruption, corruption and sleaze in 50'5 Hollywood. Danny Devito does voice overs and tells the story of the protagonists exploits in retrospect. It's an amusing telling with great repetitions in the tales... "And everything's really hush hush..."

Here's the plot summary: There's 2 anti-hero and one hero cop tracking down who's offing gang members. We get 3 versions of these cop's lives and how they uniquely approach their job. Ed Exley [Brosnan], straight and narrow and really eager to move ahead with his career. Will do anything to get the job done other than be corrupted. Jack Vincennes [Spacey], who loves the fame and fortune of Hollywood and likes to cash in when he can [mainly finding leads to get himself in the papers] and finally Bud White [Crowe] a really temperamental, violent, dedicated cop but has no problems bending the law to get the job done. Each is hungry to succeed, but it seems their elusive nemesis keeps on beating them. This leads to the 3 teaming up for an ultimate show down! Great modern Noire based on solid a solid plot with amazingly good acting. Not to be missed!
