“Reasonable holiday, but sometimes a bit dull”

written by Ford424 on 19/06/2014

Hi, I have recently returned from a week in Turkey, having booked with Friendship Travel, so I am well-qualified to give my opinions. Anyway they should not worry too much, the holiday was reasonably good.
Surprisingly for June, the weather in Turkey was poor. When I arrived it was actually quite cold! The hotel was up in the mountains, which normally gives some respite from the heat of summer. The weather was a very mixed bag on this holiday, alternately cloudy, windy, hot, rainy, and chilly!
The hotel was nice. I have stayed at this lovely little hotel before, and although it is basic, the staff are lovely, and the food excellent. In fact the food on this holiday was one of the highlights. Truly, I give 10 out of 10 for the food, whether eating in the hotel, or in town. It was wonderful.
On a Friendship Travel holiday, one is expected to be sociable, and I hope I fulfilled that. The other guests were lovely, kind, and a pleasure to be with. Unfortunately the men were heavily outnumbered by the ladies. Although this sounds great for a straight guy like me, it didn't quite work like that. If the numbers had been more equal, it would have created a better group dynamic, in my opinion.
I went on a few excursions but they weren't that great to be honest. Although they were well-organised, they were just a bit dull. Always remember that these excursions will always be more expensive if booked via the rep. If you book them with a travel agent in town, they will be quite a lot cheaper, although if you choose to do that, the rep will not be a happy bunny!
The highlight of the holiday was paragliding. However, I cannot really give Friendship Travel any credit for this, as it was an entirely separate and optional activity, which I paid 70 quid for. After I had done the paragliding, and come down from the emotional high, the holiday went downhill a bit, and petered-out. I went on a boat trip on the last full day, but it wasn't very exciting to be honest.
On a Friendship Travel holiday, you will unquestionably meet friendly people, and have some good discussions, and eat together, but if you are an adrenalin junkie, it may not be exciting enough for you. Nonetheless Friendship Travel delivered what they said they would, so I cannot be too critical. It was a pleasant holiday, and I thank the holiday company, the hotel staff, and the other guests for their kindness. Thank you.
