“Bookit sells substandard rooms....BUYER BEWARE”

In the last year I have booked rooms from you in Sacramento and in Maui and I’m very disappointed in the quality of your rooms. I thought you had booked a large block of rooms that were being sold for a discounted price. Instead, when I arrived at the hotel/condo I was given a substandard room and treated like a second class citizen.

In Sacramento, the room was right next the laundry facility and backed up to the ice machine and we were awoken very early by the beds vibrating and the sound of the laundry. When we spoke to the supervisor he said, “Oh you booked it from bookit. That is the only room we have like that and that is what you booked”. This was obviously a room that was substandard especially if you are not a morning person and expected to be able to sleep in past 7:00 am, which I am. They basically acted like we knew we were getting a substandard room when I thought it was a normal room for a good price.

When I arrived in Maui, we were again put into a substandard room. The room smelled dirty, the Formica had large pieces missing on the kitchen island, the kitchen faucet had poor repairs done to it, the closet had paintings stored so we were unable to use it and the shelves in the closets were rusted. When I spoke to the person registering us, again she said “oh, it’s a bookit.com, we only have one room like that”. I’m not sure what the issue is with your rooms.

It seems as though the hotels/condos know you sell substandard rooms and then get upset when we say something about it. I expected the room to be at least clean and in good working quality. I do not care if the cabinets and furniture are dated, as long as they function properly and they do not smell.

Also, the Maui Banyan had many renovations going on during our stay and I was not informed when I booked the property through you that we might be inconvenienced. During our stay, one pool was open for a few days and then both pools were down and for about 5 days and then one pool was reopened. When both pools were down, I did not even receive a courtesy call. I found out after I had come back from the beach and wanted to use the pool. The General Manager, Scott told my travel partner to use the big pool across the street. At that point I was beyond livid since we had just left the beach due to the trade winds picking up and blasting me with sand. I just wanted to enjoy the sun and the pool and was unable to do so! When they reopened the lower pool it was so crowded you were unable to enjoy it or even find a space to sit without touching another people. Painting and bug spraying were also happening during this time.

We should have been informed that the amenities would have been limited during our stay either at time of booking or by follow up.

I love to use your website, but if the room continues to be substandard I will find a new place to book my travel.
