“Stay Away!! Terrible Car Rental Company”

A couple of months earlier I had been in Florida and rented from Avis – how I wish I had stayed with them! It never occurred to me there would be such a difference in car rentals for similar cars. I guess I forgot to think about maintenance, as does Thrifty’s apparently. .

My whole experience with Thrifty was bad right from the start - the salesman thought he was wonderful but he was really just very pushy. And then the car which we got was awful. It was not well maintained but we didn’t realize how bad it was until we got to our location and then realized that the locking system didn’t work. I know this might sound like a small thing but it really was a nuisance. The unlocking worked, but then if you were on your own you had to go around an physically lock each door. This got very tedious very quickly.

Then I somehow I guess went on a toll road – though there was never an actual toll we went through. And especially annoying as I had the GPS set to not go on any toll roads. Oh well, I don’t know what happened. Anyway I then received a toll charge of $0.50 in an envelope with a stamp on it for $1.15. Just think, they would have been ahead by $0.60 without having to go to the trouble of sending me this invoice, but then of course they added their $15.00 service charge. What a rip off and really, for $0.50!!

I will never use Thrifty’s again – awful cars – Avis was much, much better and for about the same cost.
