“my wheel nearly came off after being put on by ATS”

written by margaret32 on 13/06/2014

I took my car into have a faulty wheel valve repaired and it left their depot with one of my wheels not fitted properly. I was driving my car for six days before the wheel nearly came off and was holding on by one bolt.
If it had not been for the driver behind me alerting me as he saw my wheel wobbling and bolts flying off, I could have crashed my car. Had I been on the motorway as I planned to do, I could have had caused a fatality.

When I first reported the incident to ATS the following day, there was no management at the depot and I had to contact Customer Relations. They subsequently contacted the Area Manager of the Depot but he never contacted me to offer me an apology or advise me of what direction I should now take as a result.

To cut a long story short, I have nothing but hassle and bickering from them as they want me to accept resprayed alloy wheels against the advice of Mercedes the manufacturer of my car. This would alter the appearance and have categorically stated that they should not be resprayed.
Nevertheless, that is all that is on offer from ATS for my plight. I am in the process of obtaining Media and Legal Advice.
So any ideas would much appreciated.
