If you can manage 4 ½ days on a train seat and about 1000 miles of rail track this trip is for you. At times it is a bit tedious with all the trees on both sides of the windows, but there are enough mountains, rivers and waterfalls to break up the monotony and the food and drink service also helps. I would have liked some more commentary regarding the history and its people, but I guess The Mile Post was in the front pocket for that purpose.
We booked through Rocky-Peak Holidays LTD., and our agent gave excellent service guided us on what to do and changed our bookings as we made several adjustments we were 4 people in our party he even tried to order a special drink of us, but it was not available in Vancouver, but we did get lime for our G & T!
The first leg of the trip was from Vancouver to Whistler then from Whistler to Jasper with overnight stay at Quesnel - then from Jasper back to Vancouver with overnight stay at Kamloops. We stayed in excellent hotels with great rooms and good food. The food on the train was also very good considering it was train food. The train services of all staff members were excellent and they did perform over and above expectations.
Our trip was the second of the season and there were many organizational kinks to get sorted out on transfers back and forth from the hotels and also at the hotels. However we were very impress with the organization at Hotel 540 in Kamloops, the Fairmont Hotels could learn a lot from them. It really shows that high cost for a hotel room does not equal great service and excellent organization.
