“I purchased the Webley Patriot gun for the .25 cal...”

Written on: 28/11/2004 by KG1 (1 review written)

Good Points
Solid and well built, powerful and quiet for its power range. Power and lots of it! Great feel on the trigger and a nice safety.

Bad Points
A bit hard to move the barrel out of its detente position, when cocking.

General Comments
I purchased the Webley Patriot gun for the .25 cal knock down power. I also own a RWS 350, and a Beeman 950, and can give a comparative viewpoint of this rifle. The Beeman 950 is not in the same league but is a lots of fun and very accurate. The RWS is powerful and the pellet blazes through anything you shoot, and is the best for long-range shots. But for knock down stopping power the Webley Patriot is the gun to have. I just got the Patriot and have not tested it at longer-range shots but can say it has a devastating impact on a target at 30 yards. I placed a piece of 3/4" solid birch behind my target and noticed splinters flying after the second shot. The hardwood is no match for the .25 cal. The first pellet stopped just short of going all the way through and splintered the wood the second shot destroyed my backstop. I believe that if you are a serious about airgun hunting the two guns to own are the RWS 350 .22 cal and the Webley ,25 cal. The Webley has a great feel and could be used with open sights for closer in game or shots that cant be placed in the kill zone. The impact damage will more that kill twice over. The RWS is great for the long shots with a scope where you can place the shot where it will stop and drop with one shot.
