“Charged to cancel a policy”

NEVER insure with the AA. My policy was renewed with all the additional add-ons which amounted to £200 worth of non-refundable extras. I did not receive the renewal docs so only realised the monthly premium had almost doubled when the DD was taken from my bank account. Some months later on finally dealing with it and finding a policy with a monthly instalment half of the AA costs; I had to PAY over £300 for the privilege of cancelling. I have NEVER, EVER dealt with such a dis-passionate company with staff on both the sales teams and accounts team with no interest at all in saving existing business/customers. It would have been good to know at the outset that someone cared enough to check with customers that their renewal information had been received and their non response really did mean they accepted whatever conditions and HIGHER costs were included in it.
