“Customer Service worst I've ever experienced”

I'm probably the easiest going person you could ever meet. I had to say that because when I went to an agent to politely ask a question at an American Airlines gate in Austin TX, I felt like the agent was in it for the confrontation. It was a very bizarre verbal exchange and I left wondering how this person is allowed to interact with the public. I was "bumped" from a flight without notice, that had a connecting flight. When I asked her how I got bumped and showed her my itinerary (from American Airlines directly) she said I was still "never on" my original flight. She wouldn't acknowledge I even had an itinerary and loudly said come and look on my computer! I told her I didn't need to. But she insisted and almost we shouted "you were NEVER on that flight sir." By now I knew she was a little unhinged and backed away and wished her a great day. I'm blown away by her disconnect with how to treat a customer who was asking very little.
