“I got upset”

I went to register recently and I took all my ID with me, as asked by them. I don't own a passport (as I don't need one, as I don't travel), but I took my paper driving licence (still legal) and my birth certificate and utility bills.
The consultant who saw me was singing my praises and told me she was 'glad to come across me'. It then came for me to show my paperwork and she said she couldn't accept my driving licence as it had no photo (which is total bull) and then she said my birth certificate was too short!!! I said it "was the only one I owned" and she said she couldn't take my application any further. What went so wonderful suddenly took a nosedive. I was told I needed my mum and dad on the birth cert, but I lost my dad when I was a child. I upped and left.
