I have just purchased an item from Currys in Manchester and will not be returning. The only reason I have given it one star is because the reservation system was efficient.
At the pay point I was told about the option to extend the warranty which included accidental damage. I declined to take this option and the sales assistant responded with a, "Wow, really, you're not going to take it?". When I once again politely refused he sucked in his breath and said, "Wow, really? But if something breaks and it's your fault we'll still replace it". I again declined and was met with what can only be described as an incredulous, slightly pitying, contemptuous shake of his head and an, "OK then".
The extended warranty was going to cost 20% of the purchase price of a reasonably cheap item. I'll take my chances! Whatever the merits, or otherwise, of this offer, the sales tactic was appalling. I assume there is commission to be made on these sales; what is needed is training.
