“Fantastic Experience ”

I would like to first all say a big thank you to the PMGY team and the host family for being so nice, lovely, and welcoming. I can't imagine it is easy having strangers stay in their home for weeks on end but they do everything they can to help you make your experience the best and worry free it possibly can be. In particular, the organising of SIM cards, taxi services, and further travels is what I particularly found helpful.

The volunteering was truly an amazing experience! It is definently something that you will look back on it in happiness knowing that you made a difference in someone's life - even if it just help them improve on their alphabet skills! It is however very each to mix and match the various different volunteering options. I for instance did volunteering, but found that I also did English teaching and had the oppurtunity to do medical or the disabled school had I so wished. So don't think that you will do just one thing all the time!

The accomadation itself is everything you would expect. The family prepares lovely meals every lunch and dinner. While the location 'Faridabad' is around an hour from Delhi by taxi (cheap if done in a group of around 5) or a short tuk tuk ride from the nearest metro station from which you can then head into Delhi.

Would I would say to future volunteers is just to emerge yourself in the culture and don't frown upon anything that would be considered abnormal in the western world. Its not a holiday, rather an experience. But still, you have to oppurtunity to explore something new and make friends for life!
