Having taken out a policy with Homeserve which incurs a £50 call out fee we had a strange error code appear on the boiler and called Homeserve to investigate. The Gascraft engineer did not have a diagnosis for this error code we continued to get the error code and called Homeserve again, still the fault was not diagnosed. My Husband rang the boiler manufactures technical team who said the fault lay with the control circuit board obviously this should have been done by Homeserve. We told Homserve where the fault lay and eventually they changed the part.
Some while later our combination boiler was running cold and slow when the hot water was used. We again called Homeserve who for some reason changed the heat exchanger and the expansion vessel two expensive parts this did not cure the problem. We were now rather disillusioned and cancelled our policy.
We called in an independent heating engineer, who straight away, diagnosed a faulty thermistor but rang the manufactures technical team to be sure. He also found that the water pressure into the boiler had been turned down. The part was replaced the next day and all is now well.
