“Complaint - Poor Service”

Holiday to Lanzarote from East Midlands, UK 10th May 2014 for 7 nights.

I have just booked a holiday through the Holiday Discount Centre website. The advertisement on the website was originally £151 per person with Hot Deal Holidays.

After discussing the holiday with the sales advisor the holiday cost started slowly increasing and he offered me the holiday, with late fees and two 16kg suitcases for £210 per person. I accepted this price and went ahead with the sale. After we had finished giving the passenger names and payment details, the sales advisor said he would complete the purchase and call me back with the booking references.

When I did get a call back I was offered a different flight which was at better travel times, but was more expensive and the suitcases changed to 1 15kg suitcase and two 10kg hand luggage. I declined this offer, at which point the sales advisor explained that there was only one seat on the flight we had originally agreed so we would have to take this new flight.

I asked to cancel the holiday at this point, however the sales advisor explained that he had already booked the accommodation so we were unable to do this. We did get discount on the price increase, however I am still extremely unhappy that the holiday cost increased through no fault of my own and I had to pay the difference. I would also have preferred to take two suitcases as was agreed in the original deal, however the advisor was unwilling/unable to offer me this option without vastly increasing the holiday cost (for ME) again.

The final holiday cost totalled to £592, as massive £290 more than the original advertised price (£151pp). I was unable to walkaway from the deal at the point that I wanted to and am unhappy with the position I was put in. I have since seen the exact same holiday available to book online for £544.65 on a competitors website. Therefore I could have booked this holiday elsewhere for cheaper and not had all of the poor customer service detailed above.

I would like a refund for the difference in the holiday cost for the inconvenience and poor service I have received. I have been pressured into taking a holiday I asked to cancel the deal on and am extremely unsatisfied.
