“A very confused bunch!”

After getting a reasonable quote from comparethemarket from MCE, I was disappointed to find them unable to come close to that on the phone- in fact the quote kept going up and up, probably in part because the rep couldn't find my completely normal bike on his computer. In short order we'd gone from £580 for TPFT to £680 for TPO, then a couple of days later found that with a stiff charge for paying half the premium monthly (having paid half by card upfront) it had spiralled above £800.

Have now cancelled after finding a quote from another insurer for £350.
