“Terrible customer service, decent quality products...”

Overall, very disappointed with Ikea and still having issues...

After measuring and planning my own kitchen, visited the Nottingham store for advice. The guy assisting was very helpful and suggested a few changes. We decided it best to double check at home before ordering.

A week later, we returned to store, confirmed the plan and scheduled a delivery.

The delivery turned up 2 items short.

Getting through to Ikea on the telephone is impossible whenever you ring.

So, another trip to Ikea... Missing parts scheduled for delivery a week later.

In the meantime, we discovered the unit doors didnt look right... Close investigation - which took hours to sort out - revealed they had sent us a kitchen based on an old design. Their planner had not saved out the last iteration of the plan online !

Combine this with the fact a carpenter told us we could not cut the worktop as the kitchen planner had suggested, and needed different worktop.

Cue another visit to Ikea.

Worktops returned by collection, kitchen mess sorted.

It's over a month later, I have just received a refund for the worktops - after chasing ikea via email and telephone for weeks, having TWO customer issue numbers.

The rest of the kitchen is scheduled for delivery in another week, so it's not even finished yet by a long way.

I shouldn't forget to mention the Ikea sink traps and plumbing. Terrible quality. Had a plumber round to make new copper piping for the sink and he laughed and advised they be thrown out. I see his point. They have leaked so badly that one of the kitchen cabinet carcasses is now warped and beyond repair.

I wouldn't recommend buying anything substantial from ikea unless you're willing to wait and make numerous journeys into store to resolve issues. It might help if you're a master craftsmen too.
