We did 13 night _the self drive best of the west deluxe in mustang convertible through american sky for our honeymoon. It included mostly fabulous hotels including 4/5 star hotels_ paris hotel in las vegas was amazing as well as place we stayed in furnace creek. It had a museum on site, fresh spring water pool, little fires at each table outside bar and it really was an oasis in dessert.hyatt regency in monterey was so luxurious it even had a radio where you could listen to before sleep that had classical music and nature sounds like ocean waves etc. The trip entails a lot of driving and you have to be selective about what you want to see as with driving wont have time to see everything, so bear driving in mind but for us that is part of quintessential america seeing not just the main cities towns attractions at destinations but road trip itself is the adventure. The big bus tour in san francisco along with the alcatraz combined tour we had was well worth doing, it was 160 for both of us and v informative.the hop on hop off tour is good to do to get full flavour and scale of city overview before exploring it. You also get 2 meet a tour rep in states on first moening, which u shouldn't miss as they have local knowledge, tips etc also give you handy booklet with itinerary, mileage, maps etc. The only negative thing or thing to take note of is driving from furnace creek in death valley to yosemite took us about 8/9 hours as you have to go around yosemite park you can't drive through it so I think this needs to be highlighted in book as we were v late arriving in yosemite otherwise it was perfect honeymoon incorporating great places of yaw dropping natural beauty like yosemite and death valley mixed with great cities like san francisco las vegas and la.
