“Switch and bait”

Classic switch and bait. We arranged a car for £61.50. Arriving at the airport we were hard sold the additional insurance as we would be held responsible for any damage (and would have to ok £850 on our card). We were told the insurance was an additional £20 a day. But, as a bonus, they upgraded our car! Just looking through the paperwork now, I see that if they had given us the lower class car we originally booked, the additional insurance would have cost us only £13 a day. So their upgrading our car "for free" cost us an additional £35 over the 5 days we had the car. We'll definitely never use Budget again.
