“Worlds Worst Bouquet|?”

written by MandyMerts on 02/04/2014

My son paid with his own money and arranged for some flowers to be delivered to me for Mothers Day. What a wonderful thought!

The flowers were delivered on time in a pristine box and sadly that is the only good thing I am able to say about our experience.

With great excitement I opened the box to see the saddest bunch of flowers imaginable! On going on the website, the bouquet clearly contained everything it should contain (although I note in the photograph of the bouquet there was more than one spring of gypsophila) However, the quality of the flowers and the presentation was an absolute disgrace.

Of the four roses (of which one was already starting to droop) three had crease marks going through the petals. The lilly stem consisted of three heads of which the top of one was completely crushed and had thick brown marks going through it. A lot of the carnation heads were broken and dangling down. One of them was hanging down by what looked like a thread - it was in fact the old, withered stem.

One of the carnations was a good six inches shorter than all of the other flowers and the stem of a carnation with no head had been left in the bouquet.

Three days after their arrival, three of the roses are dead and the broken carnations look even more pathetic.

Quite frankly, the worst thing about this sorry episode is that my son came home to see, contrary to his expectations, what a poxy bunch of flowers he had bought me. As much as I told him I loved them and that they were wonderful, he could not be fooled. The evidence was right before his eyes. Three days later, three of the four roses are dead. The broken carnations look even more pathetic and the fact that he wasted his money is even more plain to see.

I contacted Serenata flowers who said that there are five basic checks made on the quality of the flowers and the bouquet before it leaves their premises and is placed in the hands of the courier. All I can say about that, without being impolite, is that those checks were clearly not working that day!

Serenata Flowers have asked for photographic evidence which i have provided. I'm sure they will do the right thing and refund the money - what they cant do is make up for the disappointment my son felt when he tried to do a lovely thing for his Mum!

None of this can be blamed on the courier - the box was in perfect condition - it is clearly due to a lack of quality flowers and a complete and utter lack of quality control and style.

Normally, I would not bother to complain. However, I am so incensed by this, hence my review.
