On submitting my fair offer Martyn worked hard to agree my price with the seller. Once agreed he took a £500 holding deposit towards the purchase via credit card. The balance payment to pay was on him receiving confirmation of the entitlement certificate by way of an undertaking frim the sellers lawyers. The balance to pay for the plate was considerably more so was nervous making this final payment ahead of receiving a tangible result. I then expressed to Martyn that I felt more comfortable involving my lawyers and letting them provide him with an undertaking letter that once the plates were on my car they would release the balance funds to him. He agreed to this but after gaining more confidence with him and the company I opted to pay the balance by Credit card which was subject to a surcharge fee but nonetheless cheaper than my lawyers. It should be noted that making payments with the right credit card companies are automatically protected payments if you do not receive the goods you paid for.
Once this was done Martyrn processed the plates ready for my car within 10 days. It goes without saying it was a slightly daunting experience but I thought I would take the time to help others be more comfortable dealing with this established family run business.
Special thanks to Martyn.
