“Vi-Spring Bedstead Superb Mattress”

Firstly, I am a 58 yr old male. As an ex fireman, I have my aches and pains and would not be able to sleep on a camping bed anymore. Up until maybe 40, I could sleep on the floor. This is highly relevant to when someone states "that mattress was really comfy...."!

I bought a Bedstead Superb 4ft (small double/large single) in Sept 2011. I paid a discounted price in the region of £2400! Within a few weeks, it didn't feel right, nothing like the ones I had tried in the suppliers showrooms in Greenford and Harrow. The 'loft' was flattening and only six weeks old. I'm 6ft and 15 stone so of normal build, not 25 stone!

The dealer arranged with the manufacture to send someone out to look at it. The guy came (from a third party company and after failing to make contact for some time as it transpired they had been given an incorrect number for me so had been delayed from October to 8th December) and said that the 'Loft' was surprisingly flattened (or words to that effect) considering that it's virtually new. He was surprised. However, not as surprised as I was when the report was copied to me, quite some time later as I had to chase up V-spring for the report. It stated that there was nothing wrong with the mattress and that was that! I did try and arrange with MD of the dealer for him to come and view it for himself but it never happened for various reasons. I then emailed Vi-Spring in and after three weeks without a reply, I forwarded my email to Vi-Spring stating I had sent the below three weeks ago an had not heard a jot. On 8th Feb they responded as follows:

"In response to your recent e-mail , I would like to inform you your retailer xxxxxxxxxx were contacted on 13/12/2011 with response to your visit from xxxxxxxx. Legally your sale of contract is with your retailer please contact them directly with all correspondence regarding your complaint."

So that's the V-Spring commitment to customer care.

If you're wondering why I'm posting a review/s now some 2 yrs later, it's because the mattress has become so uncomfortable with some of the buttons digging into me and the mattress almost bottoming out when sitting on it, something it's been doing from a few weeks old, that I'm going to have to replace it with a cheap but more comfortable one. I've spent many nights away at hotels and B+B's with work and only twice in that time have I been unsatisfied with the mattress. I spent a night at a pub in Wiltshire last week and the mattress was so comfortable, I asked the landlady where they got it from and she said (A large Swedish outlet) about five years ago!

I hope this helps anyone before they get taken in by fancy websites and drawling statements of splendour.
