We visited the Chelmsford Pizza Express only once, and will never do it again. The waiting time was not too long but some members of staff not well informed. They offer 3 types of pizza, and I wanted to know what is the difference between them, what size and thickness were they, but waitress didn't know. She checked and told me that the classic one was a deep pan pizza and Romana was a thin base one. We were both very hungry and needed something quite substantial so I ordered Sloppy Giuseppe, and my husband American pizza on a classic base. To my surprise I was brought the pizza on a very thin base, below 0.5 cm thickness, and I was told that is they version of deep pan pizza! The topping on the pizza consisted lots of tomatoes sauce, 3 slices of mozzarella and about a 1/2 teaspoon of mince scattered across the 10 inch pizza! I though it was a joke. The pizza one can buy from the supermarket has more topping on it. My husband's American pizza had much more topping. I ate this 'pizza dough' I was presented with and promised never to go there again. As my husband said we came there starving, left hungry. We went to eat somewhere else. Likely as it is not local to where we live I will never have to go there. The staff were polite but we were never asked how was our food, maybe they didn't want to know the answer?
