Beside the cost of the car hire, they add costs to insure the car and the excess can be as high as £1000. They offer to cover the excess at a high cost. The cost is about 5 times higher than external insurance companies.
If you decline to take this extra cover, you are indeed,in trouble. When you return the car, they will go through the cat like a fine tooth comb and invariably find some fault and exercise their right to charge the excess, as high as £1000, to your credit card. They then hold on to your money and do not make a refund of the difference between the repair cost and the excess charged.You can complain to the manager but it falls on deaf ears. In our case they said that the car had been checked thoroughly before being handed to us but we established that it was not so. Dishonest!!! The fault was so minor that it could have been there before.
