“Avoid Turkish Airline like a plague”

The worst airline I have ever travelled in my 15 years of travelling.

Okay where do I start...

=> The connecting flight to Kathmandu was delayed by 7 hours on the way out. We thought its okay we are on a holiday but there was no communication to say when the next confirmed flight is. Istanbul airport is being re-furbished and not many places to sit down. It is a crowded airport with very little facility.

=> On the way in to London from Kathmandu, our flight was delayed by 15 hours. We were in Kathmandu Airport for 15 hours not knowing when they are going to take off. In the mean time, Qatar Air, Indian Air etc. all came and gone.

=> We finally arrived at Istanbul at 2 am in the morning and they said there is no flight until mid-day next day. They kindly offered us to take to the hotel. Wait.... the hotel is outside of Istanbul and you have to pay for your visa fee first which was around £25 per person. This is something I still have not been able to claim back in last 2 months. Alright we spent the money and got the visa because all we wanted was to sleep that night/morning after 26 hours of ordeal.

=> When we arrived at heathrow, we caught the coach home but we realised my wife lost a jewellery box. I rang the Turkish Air customer enquiry as they don't really have customer service line technically. They told me I can only fill out the online form about my issue. I filled out the form with my information but nothing happened for 2 days, I then contacted them and they told me I need to ring another number in Turkey. Please note I have been ringing Turkey number from UK as they don't have any UK number. After 5 days of fighting and arguing, I had this lady who does not understand English and getting really angry on me. I asked her to calm down and finally got a telephone number at heathrow airport for lost baggage. It turned out to be a wrong number however somebody at that number did help me to obtain the right number in the end. Because of this I have now lost the opportunity to register my claim with ASDA Travel Insurance (http://www.reviewcentre.com/ Travel-Insurance/Asda-Travel-Insurance-review_2449207) and now I have not only lost the item I lost my time and patience.

=> To this day, I have not heard from Turkish Airlines and their customer service is non-existing. Hence, I urge you to avoid Turkish Airline. It might be tempting to buy cheap Turkish Air ticket but it is not worth all the hassle.
