I was looking for a new bar to visit in walking distance from Liverpool St station as I always end up in the same places.
I'd never visited a Hawksmoor before and the cocktail bar looked inviting on the their website. Perfect for a few after work drinks on a rainy evening.
We started with a cocktail each. Quite pricey but really well made and containing unusual drinks like white port (I'd never tried it before).
We then ordered some bar food and beers. I went for the Pigs Head Poutine which is down as a side dish but I found it plenty for my dinner. Wonderful crisp chips in gravy, curd cheese and topped with slow cooked pigs head meat. Really rich and tasty.
My friends had the cheese burger, vinegar slaw and chips. All very good.
We had a booth and the staff were very attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed and keeping the drinks flowing. We were pleasantly surprised by the price of the beers, only £4 each so well worth a visit if you are not that flush.
Next time we'll eat upstairs in the restaurant where the steaks smelt divine.
