The Iceland holiday was fantastic from almost every point of view. The booking process was easy, the staff at Freeway were helpful, friendly and very accessible, open 7 days well into the evenings.
WOW, the Icelandic airline, was great and transported us to Reyjavik efficiently and with unusual humour which made the flying experience a breeze.
The Reykjavik Lights Hotel was outstanding, the room very comfortable, great shower, huge flat screen tv. The breakfast was all you can eat of lovely freshly baked bread and rolls, fruit, cereal, boiled eggs, juice, good coffee and tea.
The tours (Northern Lights and Golden Circle) were both outstanding. The night we went out to see the Northern Lights, the guide and driver spent a lot of time and drove us a lot of miles to try to find an area with clear skies to maximise our chances and succeeded in showing us the lights, albeit not as dazzling a show as it sometimes is- but if you are a camera enthusiast, as many were on our trip, your efforts will probably pay off. Those with cameras on tripods making 30 second long exposures actually achieved a fantastic brightly coloured display across the sky which wasn't possible with the naked eye.
The Golden Circle was around 8 hours long taking us across much of the south of Iceland showing us many incredible and beautiful examples of the natural environment. This was fascinating, educational and very enjoyable. We were lucky with the weather as it was dry and not too cold or windy, which was a bonus.
All in all, I'd love to go back again and see more!
