“AVOID!! Can't even provide a simple jump start!”

written by on 24/01/2014

PLEASE DO NOT JOIN AS YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY! AWFUL AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE!!
I joined Drive 24/7 in October 13. My car didn't start on 20/12/13; I called the service centre and asked for a homestart assistance mentioning that the fault could be as simple as a flat battery.
A "mechanic" was sent over; we asked him to provide a simple jump start. He REFUSED to do so! He insisted that he was unable to repair the fault and offered recovery to the nearest garage.
We tried to convience him that he should check the battery first then decide what to do. He refused!!
We were extremely unhappy about this; however, since the car is mainly used to transport my disabled mother; we had no choice but to agree reluctantly!
What do you expect on 20/12? Xmas rush; no garage accepted to book in the car so it was taken back to the house unrepaired!
I had to call a mobile mechanic who provided a simple jump start and the car was running again in less than 20 minutes! Paid a bill of £100!!
I called Drive 24/7 on the same day, explaining the situation and our disappointment in the service offered. I was promised a call back; NO ONE CALLED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES!
Every time I called; they kept requesting me to send in a proof of the repair and a letter detailing the fault which I had done. I also requested them to reimburse my membership fee and the mechanic's bill.
Finally received a letter and a call from Drive 24/7 refusing to pay my losses and explaining that their T&C mention that they cannot guarantee repair.
I tried to explain to them "hopelessly" that my car just needed a simple jump start and their mechanic should have provided this first instead of giving incorrect diagnosis such as "faulty alternator" and recovery to local garages; their answer was:
The mechanic WAS NOT equipped to provide a simple jump start!!
Do you believe this?
During my previous membership with the AA, RAC and KwikFit; I have never had experienced such an appalling customers' service!
I joined Drive 24/7 because I believed what they advertise on their website! I thought it was actually good value for money!
Unfortunately, turned out to be a complete waste of money! A CON!!
