“Don't Bother With Reward Miles”

We just booked a trip from San Francisco to NYC using reward miles...what kind of reward miles costs you $450 in extra fees to deposit points into your account and purchase miles? $70 alone in processing fees? $200 to transfer points? If I did not have these points to get rid of, I would never have flown American. They were once my favorite airline to fly, but that was a long time ago. Will check back in after the flight.
