“Excellent party for a mix of ages”

written by InnocentJaguar on 06/01/2014

We used Froggle parties for my son's 5th birthday - he had wanted a 'traditional' birthday party, and since we were having a large number of small children from his class (a mix of 4- 5 year olds, with the occasional 7-8 year old due to my daughter) we decided to hire an entertainer to give the party a bit of direction as many of the children had only really known each other since the start of the school term.

After hiring a local hall, we were able to book for the exact time I needed - the entertainer phoned a few days beforehand to make sure everything was okay and to run through a few more details, but before that point we could discuss any problems through the website.

On the day, the entertainer was prompt and well organised, and began the show as soon as most of the kids had arrived. We had chosen a dinosaur theme, so he was dressed in a dinosaur costume, and had a whole range of magic tricks, games and entertainment including a large fuzzy bear puppet that the children loved. Each section was smooth and very well set to the age of the audience - some children were a little shy - and the birthday boy himself was included a lot. After about five minutes of it starting, any of the more nervous children had moved from the edges to join the larger group of children. Each section was long enough to engage the children but not so long that they got bored

We had an hour and a half party - this was an hour of full on entertainment and guided games, followed by 30 mins for the kids to eat their party food (provided and organised by me) while the entertainer made individual modeled animal balloons for each child to take home. The birthday cake was also accompanied by a taped musical piece for Happy Birthday, which made it all a little less awkward for singing!

All the children seemed to really enjoy themselves, and my son was absolutely delighted with the party. Given the ages of the children involved, many of the parents stayed to wait and watch too and they seemed to enjoy themselves too - to the extent that several asked for the entertainer's business card for their own children's parties later on in the year. Having an entertainer really did mean that I could just get on with the food and organising the party bags etc and could leave the children entirely to him without worrying they would be bored. At this particular age group and with the size of the party (about 22 kids) it was well worth the extra expense
