“return of faulty goods”

Went to maedowhall usc to return a pair of puma trainers which are starting to come unstiched was told by the manager that these could not be exchanged or refund because I did not have the box although when these where bought told the shop assistant I did not require the box as the trainers came in there own shoe bag which was ok with them no mention of needing the box to return them have the original receipt and a pair of trainers that are now falling to peices
