I have attempted to use this site on a number of occasions the last just today, that's what prompted me to warn others about this very misleading online booking agent. Be aware they are an agent and if anything goes wrong your on your own dealing not with booking.com who you book with and pay your money too but the hotel or B&B or holiday letting that you are traveling too and this is usually in a foreign country who once you ask for a refund suddenly speak no English.
It's not just the one occasion they have misleading advertisement and tricks to lead you into making a mistake whilst booking but the vast majority of there adverts. The deals they have are so good you think this is too good to be true and just go on your first instincts THEY ARE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. It's partly deception and partly there misleading advertisement.
Today I wanted to book the penta hotel in birmingham which is the old ramada encore hotel and currently undergoing refurbishment but not yet finished, I know this as I stayed there a few weeks ago but on booking.coms web site they show around 14 pictures of another penta hotel, nothing like the birmingham penta hotel that is under refurbishment.
On another occasion I looked for a hotel in Loretta de mar and came across the guitart appartments but all the pictures shown were of the guitart Monterrey 5 star hotel and the address given was the same as the hotel. I actually booked this with booking.com assuming it to be the deal of a lifetime as the cost was so low however, true to form it turned out to be basic appartments nothing to do with the 5 star guitart Monterrey hotel. It took me ages to get my money back via my credit card company but did get it back after about 8 weeks.
Also be aware when booking on there site instead of stating how many people are staying in a room they use very small symbols of people's heads but will put a single person in with loads of twins or doubles having no consistency, ie singles first, then doubles, twins ect, they just mix one single in randomly that is very confusing. You think you are getting a cheaper deal for a twin but look closer it's just a single.
Now what I do if I do find that booking.com does have the best deal I will contact a reputable online agent like travel republic and get them to price match it, if they can't they will tell you why and it's usually because booking.com has mislead you.
Don't take my word for there misleading you go have a look for yourself, but def don't book with them, you will regret it.
