“Disappointing service. Avoid.”

written by Pheadrus on 28/12/2013

I've never written a review online before, but in this instance I feel compelled to. (Firstly, I have no experience with this company with regard to the hire, servicing or purchase of motorhomes. I can therefore only comment on the service I received when 'Highland Campervans' offered to sell my motorhome on my behalf.) I opted for the 'Motorhome Sales' service offered by this company, and allowed them to sell my 'A-class' motohome on a commission-basis. At this point, I should have trusted my instincts when the company refused to disclose their rate of commission.... My experience when dealing with this company was lengthy, stressful, inconsistent and overall disappointing. I did not receive payment until MONTHS after the sale, and even then it was significantly less than the agreed sale-price. The company sold the motorhome to a buyer BEFORE servicing and repairs were carried out, and this done without my knowledge or consent. The staff were friendly (and as helpful as they could be in the abscence of the owners) but were (I would like to think unintentionally) misleading in the sale-price quoted. I ended up accepting a figure well over a thousand pound below the agreed sale-price as a consequence. I do not think this was a deliberate ploy on the part of the company, but I DO think it is because their sales-procedure is unprofessional. Would YOU sell a motorhome to new owners and verbally agree a price with the provider, allow the 'new owners' to use it the motorhome for nearly two months (without the servicing-work having been carried out) have them return it at their convenience (AFTER use!) and THEN decide to offer a 'revised' (and non-negotiable) settlement with the provider? (A 'test-drive', yes. A 'Christmas holiday'? Certainly NOT!!) That is essentially what happened with our sale, definitely NOT what was agreed. I would certainly think VERY HARD before allowing this company to sell your motorhome on your behalf. The service was polite and pleasant enough, but dangerously amateurish. I'm looking to buy a replacement (smaller) campervan in the autumn. When I do, I'll be buying elsewhere. I no longer have confidence in this company
