“Beats Pro, an unexpected surprise!”

written by henko on 25/10/2013

I have destroyed some headphones in my musical career already. Most of all they were Sennheisers. My latest Beyerdynamic was falling apart in our studio so i decided to look for something else. I was totally not happy what my store had laying on the shelf. I almost started crying when i was listening to this 500 dollar Shure studiomonitor headphones. Common Shure, really? Plastic ear caps were cracking annoyingly with every move or headturn. This shoud not happen in this price range. I have noticed this with almost all the brands i've tried on an listened to. All of a sudden this shop-assistent came up to me and showed me some other models wich i did not like either. Prices varying from 50 to 200 dollar, i was not impressed. Than he took me to the Dr Dré corner wich i always avoid because of all the children hanging around there :-)
He very indiscreetly planted the Beats by Dr. Dre Pro on my head and i was totally blown away.
What a great sound! Ultra bass potentials en crispy highs and mids.
No acoustic plastic crackling noises but just Oohmpf-sound.
Mind you! This is not just some hiphop or house flavoured headphone with the emphasis on some aspects on certain sounds, no its really a good studio an DJ-ing headphone. I listen classical, jazz, rock, electronic and folk music with this boy and it stands out, really. Its not comfortable on the ears but it's sturdy and rugged with real leather cushions and steel hinges and alu caps. A no nonsense stereo plug and cable ensures long life as a DJ companion. Heavy duty headphones with a high pricetag, but worth every penny.
