We will never use Avis again. Thanks to the rep at Catania airport tacking on hidden charges we ended up paying through the nose. She must be working on commission, that's all I can think for why she placed us on the super package when I asked for an upgrade on my insurance. Thanks to the contract being in Italian and questions being fobbed off we ended up paying £730 for a weeks car rental.
We thought the medium car group would be sufficient "fiesta or similar" turned out to be a Clio with a boot too small for 2 suitcases. When we got home and realised what they'd done, trying to complain is a long drawn out affair where you're transferred from department to department with nobody actually achieving anything useful. We thought we'd be safe with one of the big companies, we were wrong. Maybe the others are better but Avis has lost my custom forever.
