“norton 360 antivirus failure symantec.com”

written by sayitasitis2012 on 16/10/2013

my main computer has been blocked by a virus and Norton 360,on top of my annual fee of £64 are asking for a further £69.99 to unblock my computer.
I was given an email address to complain to,and below is a copy of the email

i would refer you to case notes your reference id xxxxxx and xxxxxxx

I attempted to get this problem, my computer being blocked from use by a scam virus, which insists I pay a £100 fine in order to have the virus removed, and it also advises that after I have paid the fine that I should contact my computer security systems to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I am appalled at the service that I have received.

upon contact I was directed very quickly to your live department, a fee based service.

I refused to pay. I have Norton 360 installed. whatever else do I need to prevent virus's or at least assistance to rid myself of them?

I have, i believe, spoken to various members of your staff in the support and higher technical support sections, and I have indeed been informed that your support services are not trained in the removal of virus's.

yesterday,i spent 3 hours 50 minutes in contact with Norton via computer talk and telephone.

I made it clear that I was very unhappy and I was given two uk numbers, both of which tripped back to india!

02077440061 was given to me by your fee paying "live" department. this tripped back to his dept!

02076165600 also tripped back to india! I was insistent upon speaking to a uk member of your staff. I felt that the people that I was speaking to could not understand what I was trying to say, and as you say that you record all telephone calls a check should confirm my claims

I am more than extremely disappointed in your inactions. and I would ask as to what action you propose to take in rectifying my problem.

obviously I am sending this e mail from a second computer in my house which doesn't appear to be compromised.

I am currently awaiting a call back from your uk office.

it now transpires that the email I was given to complain to is incorrect.
I have browsed symantecs site and am unable to find out a method of complaining to someone in authority, except to return to the people that I have already been contacting, which to date has been a complete waste of time.
