“Daylight Robbery”

written by debrob60 on 14/09/2013

I have had this AA Home Emergency cover for 3 years and fortunately have never needed to use it so needing to cut down on outgoings recently I cancelled the policy. I then receive a letter from a debt recovery company saying I owe £208.36 !! I paid by monthly DD and have never missed a payment. On ringing the AA they said that as I had cancelled outside of the 14 days from start of annual renewal date I had to pay for the whole of the year.
I said in that case I will continue to pay for the rest of the 7 months left so please re-instate my cover. They said they couldn't as it had been cancelled but I still had to pay and to deal with the recovery agency. As I do not want to get a bad debt rating I have had to pay this amount but in my eyes this is ROBBERY. I have all my other insurances with the AA and have just realised that as I let my car insurance automatically run with them for a further year I am paying the highest premium going, £545 a year when I could get the same for £235...so much for loyalty. I will be cancelling all my policies. DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY.
