The course started with a few hours of theory which for me (new to jet ski and boats) was quite useful, covered the basic safety aspects as well as weather, basic navigation techniques, and last but not least learning to behave on water in the same manner that we learn whe we drive, who has priority when and how to maneuvre in each case. This was explained in a basic manner and no previous experience required. Instructor had good communication skills, was quite approachable and helpful with any questions.
Then the fun part. There were 3 jet skis and 6 of us, and carried out different instruction sgiven by the instructors i.e. slaloms, U turns etc, as well as practice with a simulation of another watercraft coming from various directions to show that we have acquired knowledge of how to behave in the presence of other boats, jet skis etc.
Depsite sounding very accurate and very much like a task that I had to do, this session was quite fun, relaxed and you never thought that you were being assessed by an instructor. The wors epast of teh course was teh weather which was quite rough for july with 4-6 gale force winds I wa spessimistic that we would not leave the port but the instructors took us in a nice area less windy and we practie dunde rthe worse circumstance that we would not have done on our own.
It was a great experience and I am now actually planning to book for otehr course this time in sailing with solent. The best aspects were the instructors, the organisation of teh course and the actual structure of hands on practice and assessment leading to the certificate. Thank you.
