I booked a car online with Avis and received email confirmation that it would be delivered to a collection point in Braintree. Avis failed to deliver the car. After hours (yes, hours) of trying to contact them, I managed to speak with an Avis reservations person who advised that Avis Cambridge (who service the area) hadn't even opened the booking and that given the reduced opening hours on Saturday, they'd be unable to get a car to me. The earliest they could see it getting resolved was Monday. It was Saturday and I was travelling with a young son. We couldn't wait until Monday for Avis to get their house in order.
So, inconvenienced, we made alternative arrangements.
Yet Avis still charged me and have not reversed the charges. I've emailed, messaged, called. Nothing. No substantive response. Nothing more than an acknowledgement.
Would I recommend them? Well, they do have an online booking system that makes it easy for them to take your money. Maybe they rate that high. I wouldn't mind, if they followed through with the service.
Would I recommend them? No. NO. NO.
