“Loved our holiday”

Had a lovely holiday at 1 School Road, Durness, Sutherland, the house is basic but fine for our 4 night stay. The only thing wrong, is it said fully fitted kitchen, which is untrue, as there was no freezer which with kids wanting ice cream, ice pops ect was not very handy, it was locked in a shed with the tumble drier which we did not have access to but we survived with lots of walks to the local Spar which was amazingly stocked, met some lovely local people who were very helpful. There was a beautiful swing park right across the road which was god send with a 3 year old and 7 year old.
Tried to book in the Mackays Hotel for dinner to be told they could not feed us as as they have 7 tables and 8 residents but come back tomorrow and we might be able to feed you, we went to SANGO restaurant, just down from the Spar shop, staff were lovely and the food was grand, great choice, good prices and really busy will be going back there for food again.
The house had fab views and was a 5 minute walk to the centre of the village, we did the tourist things, Smoo Cave which was good and the kids loved the dingy ride, we walked down one side and back up the other side kids slept that night, Cocoa Mountain which was disappointing apart from the Hot Chocolate which is a must, the shops in the little craft village were selling pictures for £380 a hit which is a bit expensive for the average visitor, we didn't have a spare £380 to purchase one (not that I would have).
Last day there we had one of the many beaches to ourselves and it was spotless and beautiful, we will be returning but maybe not to this house as there will be more of us next time, but if only 2 adults and 2 kids we will be staying at 1 School Road for sure.
