“Hotel Overbooking”

written by on 07/08/2013

Recently travelled to Greece after booking the hotel 3 months in advance I really didn't expect to arrive and find the hotel overbooked, but this is what happened. We were then sent to an extremely unpleasant bedsit type of room stinking of smoke which cost 75% less than we had paid up front at the original hotel.

Rang booking.com who said hotels can send you to other hotels if they have overbooked. Apparently this is in the small print. What is the point of researching where you are going to stay if this practice is allowed?

During the holiday met 5 other groups of people / families who had also booked into the same hotel and been told it was overbooked. Reported it to booking.com who simply said it was down to the hotel and have not stopped listing this hotel.

DO NOT travel abroad after booking with booking.com as the bookings are not reliable. Nor do they take it seriously when you end up being put in a disco bar bedsit with 4 children after booking somewhere else entirely. It isn't worth the stress and booking.com do not take customer care seriously.
