Arrived back last night (half an hour early!) from Crete where we stopped at Merabello apartments in Aghia Marina for a week. I can't find fault with the accommodation, good sized with the advantage of two balconies. Cleaned each day and with free loo rolls as required! The smallish pool was adequate for the facilities and was rarely full. No problems getting a sun lounger or parasol. The bar was OK, but a bit over policed by the bar manager when it came to finishing off a drink we had brought from our room.
It was a four minute walk downhill to the beach which was sandy and was shallow for a reasonable way out, good for the children. As we eat out at night, there were plenty of tavernas around, I don't think we had a poor meal the whole time. The Horitakio taverna was a stand out for their Cretan salad which made the main course a bit too big (family of 4) and left us full into the next day!
The weather was great, not seen a cloud for duration, temperatures around the 32c mark at midday (heat wave beginning the day we left they predicted!).
The only down side to the holiday was the 7 hour delay at Manchester on the outbound trip. As we went, as I said, for only a week, it made a 'hole' in the holiday time and meant we arrived at the resort at 10:30 at night leaving us weary for the first day.
