I think the whole idea is great, though I really dislike the act that you pay for the property but then you have to wait for 36hrs before you can be certain, then if the host doesn't respond it gets cancelled and you have to wait 3-5 days for a refund. If I had 2 properties confirmed available, booked my preferred place and had it rejected, by the time I have had my money refunded to boom the second apartment it may have gone. I did have this situation and I found it extremely inconvenient and now have had to pay more to stay in a much poorer property simply because of the time it took to be able to access the funds in my bank again. You should only take a payment if the property is definitely available, when you book a hotel or a flight or a cinema ticket or anything online you don't get charged for something that is unavailable. This is the only thing that has lost marks for you though, I do think its a great idea, an lovely alternative to hotels, can be cheaper and nicer to stay somewhere on housetrip, and I have got another two properties booked over the next three weeks after a stay in a lovely apartment in amsterdam last week. The next one I'm staying in seems great and I am very excited, 3 nights for £167, 2 of us staying there and it is literally across the road from the Louvre. Brilliant prices for Paris, you couldn't get that price for two people anywhere really! Keep it up Housetrip, but maybe assess the payment situation because that did put me off and the people I have mentioned it to didn't seem too impressed despite all the other praises I was throwing your way.
