Apparently the people who generate the codes world wide had gone offline for a time so the unlock code took quite a few days to come, so be patient.
After receiving the unlock codes there was a particular way for them to be used but after following the instructions they failed to work for me.
I contacted the help desk.
The help desk got back to me the next business day.
With another set of instructions and a different sequence to follow with the same codes, the phone unlocked immediately.
With great backup and help i am now the very happy owner of an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S2 I1900.
