“False Advertising & Poor customer service”

written by TruthJustice on 03/07/2013

I received an online flyer promotion from thephotobookclub advertising $38 for a 100 page photo book. I contacted them and tried to make the purchase and was told to submit the email promotion I received (which I did and they acknowledged) Subsequently, I was told the price was $48 and they refused to honour the original email promotion at $38. No explanation or apology; only stating that they had no control over how emails come out at the customer's end (which by inference meant it was my fault as the innocent customer trying to take up an offer on an unsolicited email promotion which they sent to me!). I subsequently posted a comment on their Facebook page stating my issue (as it has not been satisfactorily resolved) - and it was immediately removed and their system somehow banned me from making further comments.

I am no longer concerned about the price (which has a price differential of only $10) but how I have been treated as a customer. They have simply ignored my rights and tried to sweep the entire issue away. As a customer who is bombarded with emails daily on promotions etc - there must be some avenue or way to ensure that online retailers honour what they advertise.
