Strangely I wanted to buy a Domain name but had no real intention of doing anything with it - too long a story!
123-reg's pricing was extremely reasonable so I now had a domain name for 2 years, and I noticed that I could built a free one page website through them.
After thinking of a reason to build a website, I wrote out a short passage of text. It then took me nearly a week to pluck up the courage to dive in, as I didn't know what to expect or whether I would understand what to do.
I needn't have worried it was relatively easy, and their site has useful pdf files to help you. My only problem is that it is not always easy to get the pictures where I want them, I seem to have to negotiate a compromise each time.
On the plus side I have to remind myself that it is free, and I have not discovered the bottom of my page yet - it seems to be like an unravelling toilet roll and I keep thinking of more to add.
Unfortunately I upset someone with my poor netiquette, but 123-reg were extremely supportive and rather than a slap across the back of the head, were very patient and helpful in helping me to improve my website. In this respect I could not have had better service.
If you compare plans and pricing from different companies like I did, I think you would find it difficult to find a better service or value for so little money. There were other companies that looked cheaper - but by the time you got to the checkout, things were often a lot different
It was so much fun that I've offered to build another website for a local club free of charge, and I've just bought my second domain and opened another one page website with 123-reg.
My tip is to go for the free one page to gain confidence, when you want to expand it will be easier, as you now have skills and confidence that wasn't there before.
