The food was the worst, the quality was horrible! I lost weight because there was nothing I could stomach! (I am not picky, Wendy's fast food would have been a huge improvement. The scrambled eggs were powdered. There was even a note on the menu that all meat/seafood was frozen and defrosted. They charge for anything to drink other than coffee, or tap water. They have other dinning options on board that you can pay extra for and the food is just slightly better.(still pretty bad mind you and you pay $30 extra a head) The staff is poorly trained I would hate to think how they would react in an emergency situation. They are unable to "think out of the box". It is an Italian cruise line, however don't think it is going to be anything like what you would have to dine on in Italy! The goal seems to be to get you to charge more. I spent an extra $1300 on board and I did not shop! that was just food and drinks for my son and I, add that to the $1700 spent booking and it was a $3,000 cruise! November 7-14 Costa Atlantica (this was my first cruise and everyone that I spoke to on board who were experienced cruisers said not to let this taint my opinion of cruises, that this was not the norm for other cruise lines. )
